Formed in October 2014, North Carolina's Extinction Level Event (ELE) are the founders of all bass progressive metal, the creators of CLANK, a genre emerging from the 3 bass guitar lineup that has taken the metal world by storm. Born in blood, forged in steel. Extinction Level Event brings dark, heavy grooves to an unprepared world.
Extinction Level Event are one of those hard to find metal bands who innovate within the scene. There is tonnes of potential with their signature sound and I genuinely hope they harness that in their upcoming works.
The brain child of bassist Duncan Pardue and guitarist-turned-bassist Ryan Reedy, ELE's unique lineup born out of necessity. Unable to create the low, Meshuggah-esque sound that Ryan desired with the standard guitar/bass setup, the decision was made to forgo the guitars all together.
Having found their sound the pair then tripled-down by recruiting Kennon Pearson as the band's third bassist. With the important stuff figured out Ryan moved on to filling out the lineup, selecting drummer Joey Colvin and vocalist Gavin Grace.

The Catalyst is a quite a versatile EP consisting of a three-bass attack that can be enthralling in sections but can leave the songs feeling shallow. The vocals are something to be commended for as it lends itself to the distinct style this record has.
ELE has been featured internationally in major publications such as Metal Hammer UK, Team Rock, Metal Sucks, Metal Injection, Ultimate Guitar, Lambgoat, Gear Gods, Metal Insider and more.
