Degial - (2012 - 2015) [ Full Discography] - Bandcamp Stream

BIOGRAPHY
Degial was formed in the hidden mist of Uppsala (Sweden) by H., E., R. in 2005 under the name Degial of Embos before changing their name to Degial in 2006.   In order to play Death Metal. After the release of their demo tape, “Awakening From Darkness” (2006) Degial received an offer from Blood Harvest Records to release an 7″ EP.

J. joined the congregation and the force was complete. On July 30th, 2010, “Death And Darkness Buries All…” 7″ EP (Blood Harvest) was released. Three tracks of chanting Death Metal Darkness that made a deep impact on the whole underground scene. In 2011 Degial made a covenant with the death dealers of Sepulchral Voice Records and entered Fred Estby’s studio Gutterview Recorders to create their first full-length album named “Death’s Striking Wings”. They released their debut album Death's Striking Wings in June 2012 and are currently signed with Sepulchral Voice Records.

Their debut Death’s Striking Wings rumbles and slithers along, you’ll hear loads of old Morbid Angel, Melechesh, Nile and Dissection influences and even some nods to old Possessed and North From Here-era Sentenced (if you never heard North From Here, shame on you! That’s some quality frigid death). There’s a good level of musicianship here, though they create a sound that’s ragged, shaky and chaotic; kind of like Motorhead jamming some Behemoth and Belphegor tunes after a long weekend in Tijuana. As these songs rocket by in a nightmarish fog of frenzied riffs, pummeling blast-beats and  evil vocals, it gave me the mental impression of an oversized freight train derailing and exploding… at a nuclear test site. At their best, they create PTSD-inducing, catastrophic musical train wrecks with no survivors.  However, their youth and inexperience shows through at times and this is a bit uneven in spots.

Degial have once again called upon their brothers on their second album released December 25, 2015: Watain’s Erik Danielsson handled the artwork (which has similarities to his own band’s ‘Sworn To The Dark’); In Solitude’s (R.I.P.) Gottfrid Åhman recorded and mixed the album while his brother Pelle contributed lyrics, and Set Teitan (Watain) offered up guest vocals and guitars here… ‘Savage Mutiny’ lacks the immediate catchiness of its predecessor, it’s more accessible than Vorum’s ‘Current Mouth’, and an adequate soundtrack to an obscure mass burial in a stinking cemetery. A welcome evolution, creating a more personal style and that will leave a longer-lasting impression.

On Compact Disc and on 12“ vinyl LP a bit later. After the highly acclaimed „Death´s Striking Wings“ debut, DEGIAL now strike even harder with a new album. „SAVAGE MUTINY“ consists of eight new compositions that form a vision of the bottomless pit and a celebration of the entities to be spit out from there. Again the production is rough but sharp like a rusty blade. „SAVAGE MUTINY“ contains all the typical trademarks the band evolved over previous releases. Furthermore DEGIAL this time marches some steps forward, delivering unique arrangements and eruptions. From the most brutal thunderdrumming and ripping guitarshredding to trancelike pounding the album crosses bridges between tradition and innovation multiple times.

When you are about to abandon all hope, trust and faith that real DEATH METAL still can be ultimately dark, abhorrent, yelling, filthy, violent, repellent, sinister, driven, revealing, hurting and visionary... ...then... the devil will bring the wonder of: SAVAGE MUTINY.
