Swedish death metal act Desolator are back! Almost three years after they released their debut full-length, Unearthly Monument (Hellthrasher Productions), they unleash upon us a four-track EP entitled Spawn of Misanthropy. The EP It's available from today as a free download (or pay what you want) or as a physical CD via Bandcamp.
The Spawn of Misanthropy EP was released in gig is takooked place at Death Kills Fest on 27 February 2016.
It’s definitely an improvement from their previous releases. It’s crazy – I’ve been following this band for the past five years or so and this might actually be their best ever release. It still has that dirty Swedish sound but the whole sound and production is cleaner. The band’s songwriting has also greatly improved and there are many memorable solos, catchy riffs, melodies (have in mind this is not “melodic” though) and slower parts which remind me of classic Entombed. I can imagine “The Faceless God” becoming a staple live headbanging track. Overall, an enjoyable death metal listen; it’s “short but sweet” as they say and that’s how I like my death metal.
Anyway, for me there is no doubt, this is a top quality material. Desolator practice a Death Metal of excellent workmanship and execution. Only that, Death Metal in the purest and classic style. Recommended 100% for every follower of this wonderful music.
